Durham Landscape Photography is a new thing to me.
So, I have been dying to do some Durham landscape photography. Our city is beautiful and I feel like I have been largely ignoring it until recently. I spent a few hours today driving around, trying to find the best spot to take a pictures of the Lucky Strike water tower and smoke stack at the American Tobacco Campus. Let me just tell you that it is pretty tricky to get the right shot and I still haven’t really found the shot that I want. This image was taken from atop the parking deck near the Durham Bulls Stadium. It was the first place that I went and is probably the best image I got from today.
I will say that I went out during the worst part of the day on a pretty cloudy and overcast day. So please don’t judge me based on this image because I hope to go back out at a more opportune time. Its probably going to require me to go out either at sunrise or sunset, or maybe even at night.
I was actually pretty frustrated today with not being able to find my shot. I went to the top of 3 or 4 different parking decks and even an overpass, but didn’t find exactly what I wanted. I got very close, but need to get special access to a roof that I think would be the perfect spot, not to mention getting that access at a time of day that would be an interesting picture.
